FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What qualifies you as an expert?
Answer: I consider myself an expert by experience. I have probably been surfing the web since the web got started. Very early in my teaching career, we were given apple computers. Believe it or not, the computers were just left in the classrooms, and teachers had to unbox and assemble the devices on their own, with no assistance. Then, you had to “play” with them until you finally figured out what they were good for, and how to use them. Seemingly, I was one of the few people with the inquisitiveness and curiosity to explore these gadgets, and so I fast became the computer resource person in the various schools where I was assigned. I was so intrigued by the computer, until I decided to purchase one of my own so I could practice using it during my off hours at home. So, over time, I grew with them. Starting with the “Apple” computers for school children, and later, we moved to the IBM, and it was the same scenario. Every teacher was on her own, as far as learning how to use the darn things. I met the challenge so I became the expert. I’m a firm believer that much of our “expertise” is actually “WISDOM” derived by way of our YEARS, and our EXPERIENCES. In terms of internet marketing, I have been online marketing since the early 1990’s, beginning with my very first site which I built for our brick and mortar business.
2. What are your areas of expertise?
Answer: I don’t like to use the word “expertise” as much as I like the word “interest.” I have developed expertise in a number of fields. My professional training is in the field of education. I have taught in Georgia public schools for a number of years. However, I am now retired. I am certified in a number of teaching areas. In addition to the teaching fields I also am a trained mortician. I hold a degree in mortuary science. Much of my prior business experience is related to the mortuary business that my father owned, which I grew up in. I learned this business very early in my life — like from age 14. It was primarily my parents who taught me about business, but, I later formalized my training in the field and got a degree. While still teaching in public school, I managed the company and after the deaths of my parents, I mentored and educated my own children, who now run the company very comfortably.
3. Do you have expertise in areas that don’t involve internet marketing?
Answer: Other than the two mentioned above, I love to write. And I consider myself a professional writer. I published and distributed a newspaper for about four years, almost single-handedly. It was a BIG job. I eventually let this go, because it just took too much out of me. But, I still occasionally write articles that get published on ezinearticles.com, afroarticles.com, associatedcontent.com, and articlebase.com — and perhaps a few others.
4. What other services do you offer?
Answer: There are many things I can do. At the present time, I am offering my services as an experienced website designer/builder. I have been asked to build websites for others, and I have built and deployed several websites for others. Please visit charswebs.com, where I offer my service in designing and building simple yet attractive and affordable websites for small to medium size businesses who desire to establish a web presence, but may not have the resources to pay large-scale or high-profile web designers to do the job.
5. On what platform does this site run?
Answer: Charsreview.com is a linux website running on wordpress. Wordpress is my absolute favorite of all blogging platforms. It is one of the easiest to use. This particular site uses the “Thesis” theme, which I purchased for its versatility, and ease of design.
6. Do you construct all of your own websites?
Answer: For the time being the answer is a big resounding YES. I love constructing websites, because the more I work with them, the easier they get. However, I hope that one day, I’ll be able to actually hire a website developer to do that work for me.
7. Do you have a portfolio of your websites?
Answer: I do not have a portfolio because site-building is not my main objective. It is an incidental skill that I acquired through my extensive use of web services, and training in internet marketing — which includes website building as well. However, if you must see some of my other work, I’ll refer you to this page.
8. Where can I learn more about you?
Answer: If you really want to know more about me, I have a personal bio page that you are welcome to visit. My bio page has other links to places around the web where you can either find me mentioned, or cited, or whatever.
